About
About this archive
The Swaraj Archive is a study guide to India's freedom struggle for school and college students. It begins in 1847, a decade before the Revolt of 1857, so that the annexations and the Doctrine of Lapse that led to the uprising are part of the story. It ends with independence and partition in August 1947.
Every event follows the same pattern: date, summary, causes, consequences, significance and sources. This keeps the guide consistent as it grows. Content is summarised from standard works. See Sources.
