Azad Hind Government and INA Campaign

Subhas Chandra Bose formed the Provisional Government of Free India in Singapore. The INA fought alongside Japan at Imphal and Kohima in 1944.

  • Indian prisoners of war in Japanese hands

Consequences

  • INA's Rani of Jhansi Regiment brought women into combat
  • Defeat at Imphal–Kohima and retreat through Burma
  • Bose reportedly died in a plane crash in August 1945

Significance
